L 'Amour Toujours
The Love Story Behind our Newest Passion Project
Meaning “Love Forever” in French, our new ceramics features a blend of our two favorite dining genres - the quintessential French café and an English countryside picnic - L’Amour Toujours is a collection celebrating the power of love and designed for lovers and dreamers.
I hand-sketched hot air balloons in the quaint faience pottery style and added a sprinkling of hearts for good measure to symbolize a life filled with romantic adventure - epicurean and otherwise. As unabashed romantics ourselves, David and I dreamed up this pattern to capture the essence of our daily approach to life - from raising a family to creating a business (including all of the messy and magical parts in between) - which is our ardent belief in love, always.
Our other passion? Bringing people together around the dinner table, for that is where the stuff of life happens! What followed was a union of love and tableware in the form of a collection intended to be used every single day at the heart of the home.
True to café style, we emblazoned the name of our “café" (L’Amour Toujours) boldly on each plate with bands of color bordering the rim, done in the flinty black of the Eiffel Tower, and the soft Delft blue taken from classic English countryside ceramics.
I am not an artist, but I do adore swirly writing, so the sprawling script is my own version of calligraphy, which I refer to as “faux-ligraphy.” Once at the drawing board, I could not resist conjuring up a few hot air balloons (which are iconic to our brand) trimmed with Berry & Thread detailing and symbolic hearts floating about.
L’Amour Toujours is intended to function effortlessly from dawn to dusk, like traditional caféware. Marrying the warmth and charm of the English countryside with the cool and impeccable style from the streets of Paris, the black, white, and blue color palette mixes and matches with other patterns seamlessly and is exceedingly lovely for everything from breakfast in bed to a dinner party twinkling with candlelight. Here I’ve styled it with our irresistibly pretty Mirabelle floral table linens and the hand-woven basketry of our hot air balloon accent pieces for a bit of texture and whimsy.
From picnics to starlit soirées, we hope you get a little carried away - for with L’Amour Toujours, the sky’s the limit! And we heartily believe in Love Forever!
